Each of us has a level of trauma in our background. Most people are able to deal with that trauma in a way that is healthy and manageable. But, for many, trauma impacts their relationships and learning. I spend time pondering the primal wound of adoption and how my own daughter is impacted by the trauma of being "given up" for adoption. We use words in our society in a way that lessens who we are. My daughter asks why she was given up for adoption. We talk about choices birth mothers make and how choosing to be a mother or father is a choice that comes with responsibilities and choices.
